Round 2 v Murrumbeena April 22nd

Our captains for the game Ace Brodie and Angus Moller led out our team for their first home game. We played with 16 players for the first half, with Murrumbeena loaning us 2 players in the second half.

Despite being 2 players short on the ground this week, the boys all put in a huge effort with some great marks taken.  Our team play is improving and the boys are starting to hold their positions.  We had a slow start in the first half again this week with 1 point being kicked by Mitchell Morison (11).  Murrumbeena kicked 2 goals 6 points.  Having 2 players short led to the boys being out numbered and swamped when the ball came their way, however it did not dampen their enthusiasm and efforts in play.

A special thanks to Murrumbeena loaning us 2 boys in the second half balancing the numbers.  To our advantage, Beaumaris went on to kick 1 goal and 1 behind early in the third quarter with Murrumbeena not scoring for that term.

Mitchell Morison (11)was very unlucky to have his goal disallowed after playing on advantage after the umpires whistle.  His subsequent free kick was then marked by the opposition.

Matthew Edwards (7) kicked our 2 goals for the morning with Mitchell Morison scoring 2 points.

All boys played well. Special mentions to to Thomas Bray, Ace Brodie, Jacob Edwards, Lachlan Morison and David Pain.

Coach's Awards - Lachlan Morison (12) & David Pain (18).

Our first Shark of the Month was held that night at home at Shark Park (Banksia Reserve).  It was good to see many of our boys there.
Congratulations to Thomas Bray who was our first Shark of the Month.  Well done Thomas!

Opening Round v Oakleigh - April 15th

Coach - Darin Edwards talking to the boys about what it means to play for the Sharks

After the jumper presentation in the changerooms, and much excitement, our team was led out by our captains for the game, Lochlan Archer & David Pain. After a slow start in first half, we were yet to register on the scoreboard, not through lack of trying. Our opposition, Oakleigh, got the runs on the board early and we were 34 points behind at half time.

Whatever was said at half time made a difference when the boys came out for the second half.

The turning point was a point kicked by #11, Mitchell Morison in the 3rd quarter, and then we were on the scoreboard. The ball was in our half for the majority of the 3rd quarter, with the boys spirits lifted 3 goals and 7 behinds were kicked for the remainder of the game.
Max Heath (#5) scored our first goal for the morning in the 3rd quarter, followed by Nate Dear (#25) scoring 2 goals.

It was great to sing the song even though we didn't win.

Nate, Jacob & Max

All boys played well. Special mentions go to Nate Dear, Matthew Edwards, Tom Fitzgerald, Max Heath & Mitchell Morison.
Coach's Awards: Nate Dear & Matthew Edwards
