Round 3 Thriller at Castlefield Reserve (April 29)

Weather conditions - sunny and a balmy 20 degrees.

The Beaumaris Hound Sharks gave a warm welcome to our newest member Hunter Hutchinson and his family. The third game for the season, this match saw a determination with players never giving up.  The team was very well led by the two  Lochie’s , Morrison and Leason who were the nominated Captains for the day and  who both showed leadership and high level skills.

The game was a nail biter with a draw much to the surprise of the opposition who had led until the last few seconds.

The first quarter saw Hunter get his first touch and Nate prevented another near goal for the opposition. A great defensive mark by Clark at the goal line kept up the pressure. Good smother by Lochie Leason. Great goal by David Pain and Mathew Edwards booted a great kick to  the forward line. Co-Captain Lochie Morrison was on fire, never giving up.

The Hampton Rovers proved to be very strong opposition and dominated possession of the ball through the centre and half forward flank, and outscored us in the first quarter. Coach Darin remained positive and praised the boys in the huddle at quarter time  and said “that is the best footy you’ve played this year!”

At half time, in the huddle, Coach Darin encouraged the boys by saying “good stuff guys now you’ve got to do it all again.”

Darin praised the co-captain Lochie Leason by saying “great work”, you got in, under and fought for the ball.  He then addressed the team: “You went out and did what I asked you were really competitive”.  Darin reminded the boys to call for the footy.

Ace and Clark also showed courage & leadership by running with the ball a couple of times.

To their credit the Beaumaris Hound Shark boy’s, fought back in the final quarter and managed to score 2 goals, 1 point. They had listened to the coach, found their feet and kept chasing the footy. Will Roworth had a great quarter with a courageous mark and Mitchell Morrison also took a great defensive mark at the goal line.

A tense final quarter, to say the least! Congrats to Jacob for kicking an important goal. A free kick in the dying seconds to the Hound Sharks, was enough for Thomas Bray to kick the final goal and draw. His team mates patted Thomas on the back and the Beaumaris  parents  erupted with a cheer!
