Thanks to all our Parent Helpers

During the season we have been very fortunate to have a great team of parents who helped out (in some cases) every week.

Thanks to these wonderful people for their commitment to making it possible for our boys to play every week.

During a wet and cold winter we all know some weeks were easier than others to be out there running the boundary, escorting the umpires, goal umpiring, taking out the water, being the runner and trainer and of course coaching.  Even supporting from the sidelines has been challenging in these conditions.

So thank you to all the parents who carried out these jobs and also to the parents who showed up each week supporting the team.

Additionally thank you to the ladies who wrote the match reports to go on the blog and thank you everyone for letting me photograph your boys!

Special thanks to the lady with the clipboard and the amazing organisation skills - Melissa Edwards - she has done a wonderful job keeping everyone on track.  There's a lot more to being the Team Manager than is evident and Melissa has done a great job!

Big thanks to our coaching staff - Darin "Softy" Edwards & John "Big Fitzy" Fitzpatrick - what can we say but you have the patience of a saint Darin!  You've both done a great job with our boys - encouraging them and keeping their spirits up even when some games have been particularly challenging.

Personally I think you've kept a great balance in encouraging them to be competitive but not crushed by losing and except for the pulsating vein in Darin's neck you've admirably kept inevitable frustrations in check!

Their improvement has been outstanding and in learning to play as a team they were able to win the Lightning Premiership - the ultimate reward for the boys and yourselves as coaches.

Importantly it's also been a lot of fun for the boys and families alike! Thanks again to all involved.

Cherie Dear

Softy hands out the jumper & it's obvious how much he loves the Sharks

The pulsating vein....

"Eyes on Me, Eyes on Me" -Fitzy try to stay awake for this bit!

That's better Fitzy
Darin & Fitzy in action
Assistant Coach - John Fitzgerald
Getting serious
Still hurting from the pink umbrella award
Wondering how they pulled a win out of the bag when he went into the change rooms
Steve Pain - Runner

Always encouraging the boys
Oh not again Darin??
Getting ready to congratulate or encourage?
Melissa Edwards - Team Manager with a smile

The lady with the clipboard & the superb organisation skills

Liz Heath - Most Glamorous Umpire Escort? With bricks in the Louis Vuitton bag?

Watering the umpires

Still mothering the umpires, notice the male umpire escort doesn't even have an umbrella for himself!
No handbag this week but umbrella and latte in hand!
The loneliest job on the roster?  Admirably performed by Peter Leason every week
Flags and scorecard in check!
Geoff Archer ran the boundary most weeks
Thanks Geoff

Trainer/Match Reporter/Loudest Mum Supporter? Katrina Leason
Prepared for everything -is there a whole medical kit in that back pack?
Bronwyn Fitzgerald shared the job of Trainer & went into prevention mode tying up shoe laces (try doing that in a few more years!)
Still managing to keep her back to the camera
Oh there we go....another great supporter!
We shared the other jobs

Kevin seemed keen to be out on the ground - the boys were well hydrated that week

Great to see the mum's getting involved out on the field
"I wonder if he brought that stupid handbag this week?"
From one extreme to the other? (just joking Kevin!)
More helpers...
more fill ins.....these ones a bit motley
improving the overall team presentation
Great to see how many parents got involved
Week in week out we had a large support group
Some weeks were harder than others to be out there
this being one of them!
Some parents coped better than others with the early starts

We had many proud moments

and some surprising (but happy) ones!!!!

.....and some amusing ones

But overall we loved watching our boys and being part of the Sharks Football Club!
