Rnd 13 Sharks V East Malvern @ Home

Sunday July 22nd
Conditions: 4 seasons in one day - at varying times, overcast, sunny and with a slight mist descending at one stage.  Particularly boggy centre of the ground (which the mums love for the washing!)

Captain - Max Heath

First Quarter
No rest for the wicked as the parents respected the 7.45am arrival time.  Boys succumbed to a jog around the ground after the trainer cracked the whip.  Lachlan and Geoff Archer (Boundary Umpire) stood proud for their last home game before being drafted to the Gold Coast.  We wish the family well!
Fitzy fought back early in the first quarter with a tackle that turned the play in the right direction.  Clark was off to a flying start playing well in defence, as was Daniel Hutton.
The boys had plenty of support in defence with the majority of players for both sides in the opposition forward 50.
Daniel Hutton manages to come out with the ball
Great kick out of defence by Daniel
Fitzy looks bemused by the mud!
Lochie Leason and Lachlan Archer chase the ball down
Nice mark Nate
Callum putting the opposition under pressure

Second Quarter
Mitch Morison took a great mark and effectively disposed of the ball.  Matt Edwards kicked our first goal of the game.  A good tackle followed by Lachlan Archer and Daniel Hutton cleared the ball out of defence.  Daniel kicked the ball to Lachlan Morison who drove a torpedo to Max Heath who took the mark.
A Chris Judd chicken wing?
A free kick coming Max's way
Half Time  Nate and several of the boys handled the mud with poise. For many the mud in the  Centre seemed to be an asset not a hindrance. They  rolled and jumped and flew in to the wind.
Fitzy took on the muddy centre
Some parents coped better than others with the last game of our home and away season!
An original way to enjoy the oranges at half time

Darin tests the pressure of his neck veins

Third Quarter
The Houndsharks were in strife in the 3rd quarter but were never defeated.  Matt and Ace were key players, both kicking goals in our only scores for the match.  Clark took a great mark at the opposition goals.  Lochie Leason went back and got the footy and that's what you've got to do.
Matt on the run for a goal
Nice work Matty
Lochie Leason showing some great skill gathering and disposing of the ball
And nice disposal too!
The two talls going for the mark
Well done Natey - great grab!
Fitzy under pressure but gets the handball away

Brave attempt to stop the ball - Matt & Fitzy

Ace gathers & goals
Lovely celebration leap by Thomas Bray

Great to see the boys celebrating the goal

Go straight ahead...then turn right and bring back 3 coffees

Go Sharks - Darin revving the boys up for the last quarter

Final Quarter
The Sharks were in strife but battled on. Despite promises of Ipads for goals at three quarter time we didn't manage to score in this quarter.  Lachlan Morison got the ball and ran with it.  Mitch Morison got rid of the ball and intercepted a kick to prevent a score.
The scoreboard showed defeat and there was some disappointment on their faces but overall the Sharks did themselves proud and played a terrific defensive game.
The Coaches praised the  team for a great effort and reminded the boys  that they were much stronger now.

Lollies at the end of the game always popular!!!
The Hound Sharks finished as a Team and closed the Season with a dignified loss against a team who had kept them scoreless last time they met.
