Our coach Darin Edwards had a new award presented to him at last month's Shark of the Month. Renamed "Softy"by the other Under 10 coaches he was presented with a lovely pink umbrella. It seems some of the other coaches thought it was a bit "soft" of Darin to cancel training the other week on that very wet and dreary Thursday night.
( I'm sure a lot of mums, myself included, breathed a sigh of relief that we didn't have to venture out into that awful weather and that our little boys weren't going to get saturated and catch a cold!)
Anyway word soon spread and poor Darin copped a lot of flak around the club. It seems to have taken a real toll on Softy who started off in Sunday's persistent rain with a complete aversion to any kind of umbrella.

Here he is shunning the protection of Fitzy's huge golf umbrella...notice even the slight turn of the shoulders |
|
Even at Quarter time he wasn't having a bar of any umbrellas (or even his hood) |

Edging a little closer...... |
|
there you go....you're safe under there....no one's going to call you Softy again! |
|
Meanwhile Liz continued to be the most motherly Umpire Escort trying to keep the poor umpy dry!! |
Considering the rain didn't really clear for our whole game I think we all deserve good parenting medals for braving that weather and of course well done to all the boys who were out in it and started the first half of the game playing like it was a dry weather game.
Darin I think you have proven that you are not soft.....although if we do discover that you did indeed shave your legs for the Team Photos that might raise some eyebrows again!
