Sharks Convincing in Win Against Hampton at Home

Round 10
BEAUMARIS SHARKS vs Hampton
Sharks sniff opportunity for a win after a draw last time we met!

Conditions: Muddy, sunny, great for a win!
Captains for this week were:
Thomas Fitzgerald and Sam Gough

Captains Sam & Fitzy
First quarter
Best First Quarter of footy this year !!!
What a muddy start to the game. Umpire was finding it difficult to keep up with the boys today as the game play was fast. (editors note -this umpire proved girls really can know as much about footy, with one of the best umpiring displays we've had this year)  Boys kept the ball moving.  Great marks by Sam, Jacob, Nate, Will, Max, Matt and Tom Bray who took a brilliant mark in the goal square.
2 points to Houndsharks at quarter time.

COACH’S TALK
Best first quarter so far this year boys.  Footy forward line, the goals are the magnet, get the footy and run, break away, bounce and kick long to goal.
Be competitive for the footy. Go Sharks.

Second Quarter
Great goal by Lachlan M.  Long and fast running with the footy by Ace, Tom Bray, Lachlan M, Daniel, Jacob, Will and Nate.  Great shepherding for his team mates by Fitzy and a very muddy kick. Huge kick by Matty E for a point…. massive kick!!!
Good Quarter - a goal for each team, we are up by a couple of points.
Great way to head into the rooms for a big team chat at half time!

Morison magic - our first goal - well done Lachlan

Well done brother!

Fitzy applies the good old head rub after a goal!

Sam gets the ball out of the muddy centre

Kevin doing a great job as water boy/on field encourager

Steve does a great job every week looking after the boys on field

Thomas Bray in great form again this week

Charlie (Chompers) Moller gets a touch

Henry takes rucking duties

Fitzy on the run

Will Roworth always around the action chasing all day

Third Quarter
This quarter saw the centre area exceptionally muddy making it hard to get hold of the ball, most players avoided this area however one opposition player got his footy boot stuck in the mud! Great grabbing and tackling for the ball standing up and lying down in the mud this quarter.  All this great play resulted in our team scoring our second goal courtesy of Nate and a few more points and the opposition was prevented from scoring this quarter. "Excellent quarter" were the cries from the side lines.

David Pain finds form - another great game this week

Run David, great teamwork by Fitzy

Here goes Ace

Ace again with a handball

Dan Hutton in the drink (well it looks like it!)

Dan cant quite believe the mud?......but loving it?

Warrior Jacob

Nate marks.....then goals

The boys celebrate the goal

Big boot by Max

Tuck that ball under & run

Matt

Final Quarter
Matty and Max doing a great job in the centre area.  Football predominantly in the Shark’s territory. Thomas kicked the ball towards goal and Will desperately swooped and put the ball through for another goal.  Thomas followed up again and put it through himself this time for our final goal for the game. Not only were we effective in attack this week but our defence held firm and kept clearing the ball away from Hampton's goals not allowing them to score in any quarter but the second.  Significant improvement in application, skills and determination saw us win convincingly.
Champion effort boys, well done!!!

David Pain tackled all day

Elusive Lachlan Morison

Brave bounce by Lochie Leason (came off though)

Looks like Thomas Bray goal but actually kicked  through by Will

The boys look to the umpy to signal Will's goal (he knows he kicked it)

Well done Will....

Here comes Thomas' goal

Flag action - all for the Sharks!

How wet is that centre square?

The muddier the better?

Siren's gone & the boys show how they feel about winning

Winners are grinners

END OF GAME TALK
Fantastic effort across all four quarters, we actually played all four consistent quarters. A great team effort everyone put in and was a part of it. Coaching staff very impressed with everyone’s effort and commitment to getting the ball.

2 enthusiastic rounds of the Beauy Club Song

Coaches Awards:
Congratulations, Sam Gough for a great consistent effort throughout the game.  With eyes only for the ball he continually tries and strives to do well.  (He had a bet with his dad that morning about winning!) Great Game Sam.

Congratulations, Thomas  Fitzgerald who kept running for the ball. He didn’t get a lot of the ball but put a lot of pressure on the opposition, did a lot of tackling and shepherding and stayed on his man especially in defence. He had a great game. (Thomas’ comment after the game, “ I met a new friend today, he’s on the other team and he’s really nice.”)
